Reclaiming the Holiday – December 3, 2019
It’s barely October, and as I write this we’re seeing temps above 90 degrees. But believe it or not we’ll be seeing Christmas ads before the month is out. Before you get swept up in the normal frenzy, here’s a thought.
Several years ago someone took a look at how the holidays have gotten out of control and came up with a better idea. Instead of launching the Christmas season with a frenzy of commercialism, what if we launched it by giving? Since then, “Giving Tuesday” has become something of a global movement. Last year total gifts (all online) to charities & ministries amounted to over 300 million dollars!
Here’s how it works. On Dec. 3rd (the first Tues. after Thanksgiving) anyone can donate to whatever non-profit or ministry they choose. If you give a gift to CBA, you’ll be supporting things like the Good Samaritan Ministry, encouraging/training pastors, strengthening churches, and starting churches to reach every language & people group in N.E. Georgia. Just go to our website (www.cbamissions.org) & click the “give now” button. You’ll see “Giving Tuesday” listed near the top of the page. Or call/email us if you prefer to give other than online.
We all know about “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday.” Hope you’ll give thought to a different kind of launching pad for this year’s holiday season. Welcome to “Giving Tuesday!”
